A woman has been hailed for helping prevent workplace accidents across Scotland.

Jane Murdoch was honoured at the House of Lords for her efforts to improve health and safety.

She is vice chairman of Safety Group West Scotland (SWGS) and improves standards from its base in Paisley.

Jane said:“We are absolutely delighted to be accepting this award on behalf of SWGS.

“The Alan Butler Awards is a main event in the safety calendar for all safety groups across the UK and is a real celebration of personal and group success across the country.”

Jane is based at Paisley’s West College Scotland but works across the country.

The prize-giving promotes the efforts of leaders helping keep staff safe across the country.

Alan Gunn, SWGS chairman, presented her with the gong earlier this week

He said:“The work of the SGWS never stops.

“Last year, once again, the group performed tirelessly to not only increase safety levels in its area, but to raise awareness of the importance of safety and appropriate safety measures in the workplace.

“This award is testament to the group’s determination to improve safety levels across the west of Scotland and beyond.”

Jane also works with Ideagen, which develops software and provides safety management to industries, including aviation, life sciences, manufacturing and oil and gas.
