Another Brexit blow for Scotland

-

This is not the first time I’ve discussed the broken promises and underhand tactics used by the UK Government in regards to Brexit and, if I’m honest, it won’t be the last.

After the Scottish Government released analysis on the impact of Brexit detailing how three different exit scenarios would affect everyday, hardworking families , the SNP were accused of “completely over-the-top scaremongering.”

Yet , last week a secret treasury report has made an even worse prediction about the impact of Brexit on Scotland than that forecast by the Scottish Government.

According to the leaked estimates, the Scottish economy would become nine per cent slower with no deal than it would if we stayed in the EU.

This figure, calculated over a 15-year period is worse than the 8.5 per cent drop predicted by the Scottish Government study, and would mean more than a £12.7 billion blow to the economy - the equivalent of £2,300 for every person north of the border.

It is becoming increasingly clear that the Tories south of the border do not care how their exit strategies will affect Scotland.

Time and time again the Scottish Government has attempted to establish open and transparent channels of communication, only to be rebuffed and ignored.

I don’t know about you, but I’m getting very tired of being disregarded, especially when it is becoming very clear we are all going to be affected by the Brexit process.
