Seniors stroll to victory

- Pleasance BC.............69 St Mirren..................130

The 2018 national league champions St Mirren Senior Men were back on the road this week to continue their championshipwinning season against Pleasance.

Their rivals, in their first season in the league, were finding things difficult at the bottom of the table.

Saints put out a strong starting unit and they were soon running through their paces against what turned out to be a very static defence.

No less than seven first quarter threepointers contributed to a 42-point total.

Chris Cleary and Chris Barron were the ones doing the damage from long-range, with Nick Collins and Scott Armstrong piling on the pressure from close range.

The home team struggled to find anything that threatened the Saints as their 14 points put the game beyond reach within the first period.

Saints had used all their players in that first period to minimise the impact of their uptempo game.

The rest of the game continued in the same manner, at 29- 15 in the second quarter, 71-29 at half time, with all the Saints on the scoresheet, and 35-20 in the third period, with Collins, Cleary, Barron, Armstrong and Harte all in double figures.

The final period started at 106- 49, with the Paisley men having trouble concentrating and playing out the clock, with six different scorers for 24 points.

The final score at 130-69 most likely did reflect the difference between the top of the table and the bottom.

Collins led all scorers with 41 points, with Chris Cleary and Chris Barron on 26, Scott Armstrong on 16 and Fergus Harte on 13.
