Class took some amazing steps to raise £4k for hospice
Zumba fundraiser was big boost for charity
A local dance class has raised more than £ 4,000 for St Vincent’s Hospice, to help buy innovative new equipment for their services.
Zumba dance fitness instructor Toni Trodden, who takes a weekly class in Lochwinnoch, came up with the idea of a fundraising event after one of her loved ones was cared for by the hospice.
Toni said: “I recently had first- hand experience of how important the services offered by St Vincent’s Hospice are and I wanted to help.
“Every year, we have a night out for my Zumba clubs, and I thought this would be a great opportunity to help raise some money.
“Local businesses were absolutely fantastic, offering us some raffle prizes out of the goodness of their heart to give away on the evening.”
St Vincent’s Hospice is a specialist provider of palliative and end of life care for people affected by life- limiting conditions from across Renfrewshire.
The money raised from the event will be put towards buying an electric bed which is wider than the standard hospital style.
Director of care for the hospice, Brona McGee, said: “Caring for people and families during some of the most difficult periods of their lives is only made possible thanks to the donations like this.
“We cannot thank Toni, Julia, and everyone involved enough for their generosity and support.”
Toni added: “We also couldn’t have done any of this without the time and support of all the ladies in the class and their families.
“All of them gave up so much of their own time and effort to raise so much money, make the night a success, and have so much fun in the process.”
