Stalking claims heard

-

Alleged stalking and fraud were among the matters reported to police in Ralston, its community council heard.

The February meeting was told there were six crime reports since members last convened.

Also reported was theft from a vehicle, a domestic assault, theft from an ATM, and malicious use of emergency services.

Renfrewshire councillor Jim Sharkey told the meeting that the local authority had voted in support of keeping the children’s ward at Paisley’s Royal Alexandra Hospital open, although he stressed the council has no power to ensure this happens.

The Scottish Government has ruled that the ward must close, and the facility move to Glasgow.

Councillor Sharkey added that the recent bad weather and lack of gritting had made access to Ralston Primary from the playing fields very difficult and that a new grit bin may be needed.

He asked that people let him know if grit bins are empty.

Community council chairman Alan Thompson advised that, since the community council has co- opted the maximum numbers allowed, and still have three residents wishing to join, then interim elections are required.

Posters are to be exhibited in various locations in the area inviting interest, with a closing date of Friday, March 2.

The treasurer of the community council said it has a balance of £ 1,980 in the bank.

The next meeting of Ralston Community Council is on Thursday, March 8, at 7.30pm, in the community centre.
