Paisley Pirates are preparing to hit the road and rack up the miles as they head to Dundee this Sunday for the first of two trips.

Ian Turley’s side face two jaunts to Tayside in under a week, taking on the Dundee Tigers in another important SNL clash.

Fresh off the back of another impressive victory, the Pirates are keen to follow up their 11-2 win over North Ayrshire Wild last weekend with a win in the City of Discovery.

Turley reckons his side has what it takes to continue their rich vein of goalscoring form – but insists that they can’t take anything for granted if they want to return to Renfrewshire with maximum points in the bag.

Turley told Express Sport : “We’ve got fond memories of the ice rink there as it was the venue for our title clinching win last year, but that will count for absolutely nothing this time round.

“The Tigers are never easy opponents and they have the confidence of an 8-0 away win at Kilmarnock Thunder to look back on going into the game.

“A number of their guys have been with the club for a long time now so they’re well used to playing with each other and it’s never an easy place to go as they make it very difficult for you when you’re in their place.

“Whatever way you look at it, we’ve got another tough 60 minutes ahead of us on Sunday.”

However, despite the size of his side’s win over Wild last time out, Turley admits he is still looking for an improvement from the boys from Paisley.

With the title race continuing to heat up, Turley insists he is striving for perfection from his side, and says he will continue to search for it as the games continue to come thick and fast.

He added: “We won comfortably enough in the end against Wild, but I’ve seen us play better.

“I suppose I’ll always be looking for the ultimate performance, when every pass goes where it should go, and every shot hits the back of the net, but we really are coming down to the wire in the next few weeks and it’s vital that we don’t leave anything in the locker.

“If we do, the Tigers are very capable of making us pay dearly for any slip ups, which we simply can’t afford.

“They’ll be looking at this game and thinking that they can provide an upset, and they’re jockeying for position in the playoffs the same as we are, so it’s imperative that our young squad goes out and plays to its capabilities as anything else might not be good enough.”

Face off for Sunday’s game in Dundee is at 7.30pm.
