No walk in the park for ’Frew

-

Renfrew boss Colin Clark insists he has his eyes on the prize as ‘Frew look to continue their promotion push.

The New Western Park team are back in action this afternoon when they welcome Darvel to town for the First Division clash.

Clark and Martin Ferry’s side are looking to bounce back from the disappointment of a 4-0 loss to fellow challengers Cambuslang Rangers last weekend.

Familiar face Sean Fitzharris will line up against them, with the former‘Frew and Johnstone Burgh midfielder making the switch to Darvel from Cumnock last week.

And Clark admits he expects a difficult afternoon.

He told Express Sport:“It was disappointing at the weekend, but the scoreline flattered Cambuslang a little.

“They deserved the win and we can have little complaint about the result.

“It is a case of keeping the heads up and, if we don’t get ourselves into the promotion mix at the end of the season, it would be a disappointment at this stage after all the good work we have put in.

“But it won’t be an easy game.

“Darvel are a big, strong side that like to get the ball forward, so we know the type of game we are going to have to play.

“They signed Sean Fitzharris and he will be looking to get one over us, but we are confident of getting something from the game.”

Renfrew’s ranks have this week been boosted by the news that loanee David McKenna has extended his deal from Beith until the end of the season.

Clark added:“It is a great bit of business for us because he gives us that goal threat we haven’t always had.

“We knew there was a chance of it happening because Beith have an embarrassment of riches up front.

“David has come in and worked hard and he was been fantastic around the place.

“He has put all the work in and is the perfect character to have around the dressing room.

“He will play a big part in the rest of our season.”
