We were born to run tonight

-

The Boss is at The Bungalow tonight, or at least a tribute to the great man himself is.

The Rising, a Bruce Springsteen tribute band, are all talented musicians, seasoned performers and, as you would expect, Springsteen fans.

The Rising set out from the word go to reproduce the live experience of a Bruce Springsteen and the E-Street Band concert, which some would say is the greatest live rock’n’roll band ever. It is some act to reproduce and The Rising do it really well.

They are based in Central Scotland and since they started seven years ago, they have gone from strength to strength, increasing their popularity bashing through a setlist that goes from Badlands to Jungleland.

You can expect the full back catalogue, the anthems, the hits, and a few rarities for the connoisseurs are all there. This is a night no Springsteen fan would want to miss.

On stage are seven core musicians plus occasional guests, and the energy and attention to detail is all you would expect from the Boss himself.

If you were born to run, get on down. Tickets are £6 and it starts at 8pm.

Tomorrow night Who’s Next, the UK’s premier live tribute to The Who, will be taking you to a magical point in time when many believe that The Who were the greatest rock and roll band on earth. Who’s Next’s live show recreates this period in the early 1970’s with the aid of authentic stage wear and instruments.

The result is a time machine ride back to the days of Live at Leeds, The Isle of Wight Festival, Tanglewood and the Fillmore shows. It is a must for any Who fan.

Their greatest hits set includes all of Pete Townsend’s classic pop songs, from adrenaline-fuelled Mod classics such as I can’t explain, Substitute and Anyway, Anyhow, Anywhere, to the psychedelic imagery of Tommy’s Pinball Wizard, Sparks and Amazing Journey, not forgetting rock anthems like My Generation, Baba O’Riley and a show-stopping version of Won’t Get Fooled Again. Starts at 8pm and tickets are £8.

Twin Alibi will be at The Tea Gardens on Sunday from 6pm. They are new to the Paisley scene and the band is looking forward to their first gig in the town.

It’s another cracker of a weekend for The Cave, starting with the fabulous Lonehead from 9pm tonight, tomorrow’s double bill is Ikon at 6pm followed by Dr Feelguid, who will be playing from 9pm.

Finally a wee cure for your hangover on Sunday is the talented John Condron from 4pm then the brilliant Wreckless featuring Aitch McWade, my favourite ever female ‘frontman’ from 6pm.

Complete Madness is at The Old Swan tonight. The Madness tribute band is the biggest band to play Paisley’s Iconic music venue. The tickets sold out almost immediately. Big Licks are on Saturday from 4pm. The Casual Swan are back for the Monday Club from 3pm and on Wednesday it is another jam session with Jim Keilt from 7pm.

Robert McIntosh will be performing some Motown and soul classics at the later time of 6pm at The Anchor and Jen will be playing from 4pm on Monday.

Open mic nights are Sunday at The Bungalow with Cat Caldwell from 8pm. Monday from 8pm at The Abbey Bar is hosted by Dunky Hunter, Andy Lindsey is at The Anchor on Tuesday from 8pm, and on Wednesday Johnny Barr is the host for Burger and Keg 8pm. Also on Wednesday Andy Lindsay is at The Patter Bar from 8pm and The Library open mic is Thursday from 8pm.

Finally, I hope with the weather permitting The Bungalow Musical will go ahead tonight and tomorrow night. It is a fantastic show with over 70 in the cast and features Dogtooth, FreeSpeech, Uncut and Loud n Proud.

Tickets are available on the door and the show starts at 7.30pm.
