Resilient Ladies earn victory at Kinross

- Kinross..................3 K’burne Ladies 2s..4

Kelburne Ladies second team arrived in Kinross in fine spirits, but they would leave even happier following a well-earned victory at the expense of their opponents.

With some youngsters making the step up from the third side, the team came out the traps at some pace, racing into a two-goal lead inside the opening ten minutes thanks to Jenny Cuthbertson.

Kelburne, however, soon took their foot off the gas, and this allowed the home side to level the scoring before the break as they brought it back to 2-2.

A rousing half-time team-talk saw the girls return to field fired up and ready to go again.

But Kinross had other ideas and they pushed forward before finding a gap in the defence, which they exploited to slide the ball home into the bottom corner and take the lead.

But with a late surge, Kelburne threw caution to the wind as Drew Berry equalised in superb fashion following a skilful run before pulling the ball on to her reverse stick and smashing home.

And with only minutes remaining, Kelburne were awarded two short corners.

The first gave a sign of things to come as they smacked an effort narrowly wide of the goal from the top of the D.

But the second attempt was slotted left to captain Jen Morgan to sweep the ball into the left-hand corner to win the game 4-3.
