Kelburne returned to outdoor matters in winning form with a hard-fought victory against Clydesdale.

Off the back of a successful indoor campaign, the Paisley side headed to Glasgow Green in high spirits

But they knew they were going to be in for a tricky afternoon, starting with 11 players and only one or two players returning from injury.

The game started fairly slowly with both sides struggling to find any sort of rhythm.

But it was Kelburne that were beginning to seize the initiative, although Clydesdale looked to counter at every possible opportunity thanks to the promising youngsters in their ranks.

It wasn’t long before the Paisley side scored from a short corner through Ben Peterson, and although it was a fairly uneventful first half, Kelburne were happy enough to go in 1-0 to the good.

The second half, however, saw both sides create a lot more chances.

At 1-0 it remained a tense affair, with the next goal going to be crucial for either side.

But luckily for the hosts, it was Kelburne that managed to get it through Gary Maitles, making it 2-0 after good interplay in the midfield resulted in good passing finding him free inside the D.

With the game coming to a close, a disjointed Kelburne defence allowed a Clydesdale forward to sneak in unmarked to finish low past Rory Kerr.

But they would remain firm in the dying embers of the clash to ensure they took maximum points.

Not the most entertaining of games and performance levels will certainly need to picked up across the park, but the Paisley side will be happy to get three points on the board and will take their 2-1 win and regroup ahead of a challenging home clash with Grove Menzieshill.
