Twos edged out by determined Strathclyde

- K’burne Ladies 2s..2 Strathclyde Uni......3

Kelburne Ladies Seconds returned to action but came up just short against their Uni rivals.

The first half was a fairly even affair between the two sides, with both creating chances. But good work from the Kelburne back four of Ellie Houston, Anna Hendry, Connie Reid and Sarah Wilson managed to limit the Strathclyde attacks, as did a number of brilliant saves from Abbie Houston.

However, their resilience was finally broken and Strathclyde took the lead just before half-time.

Starting back in the second half, Strathclyde were the quickest off the mark as they raced into a 2-0 lead.

However, Kelburne kept going and with Jen Morgan and Katrina Miller playing well in the middle, they always looked threatening.

The Paisley side soon got a goal back after a short corner was awarded to them, which led to a penalty flick, and converted by Ellie Houston.

Strathclyde then managed a quick turnover to gain a third goal and restore their two-goal advantage.

But Kelburne kept working away and another goal soon followed after a brilliant drive from Cara Bruce down the line and across the back led to a cram on the goalmouth.

The joint efforts of Bruce and Miller eventually resulted in the second goal. Kelburne were were unfortunate with the game finishing 3-2 following a gritty display.
