Sing till your heart is content
An open evening is being held by one of the area’s best choirs.
Renfrewshire Community Gospel Choir is holding the event as part of the UK Get Creative Festival, and aims to encourage people from all over to open their hearts and lungs to gospel.
The choir says the event promises to be a warm introduction to gospel music and community singing, with the opportunity to practise voice exercises, join in African rounds and new songs, or just sit back and enjoy the performance.
All ages, cultures and abilities are welcome.
And there are no auditions and no music to read. Physical and mental disabilities are no barrier to participation either.
Founder Diane Mitchell said:“With their resounding harmonies and rhythms, gospel songs are easy to learn, fun to sing and the perfect way to put a spring in your step as we leave those dark winter evenings behind. We can’t wait to welcome some tuneful new members into our friendly group.”
The choir was founded in 2016. Last year it performed at several events including the Sma’ Shot Day, African Children’s Choir concert and musical evening in Renfrew Town Hall, which raised funds to help eradicate polio worldwide. The choir has links with the local African Community.
The event will take place on Tuesday, March 20, from 7pm to 9pm, at the Methodist Halls, 2 Smithhills Street, Paisley. It is free of charge. The UK Get Creative Festival is organised by arts and creative organisations and individuals across the country.
