Get tough on sex fiends
The police say they are hunting down sex predators through a special unit (Express, March 1).
But why waste public funds paying for a taskforce hunting beasts, spend thousands making a case against them when they are caught and go to court – and then it is left up to sheriffs who are not, in many cases, hard enough when it comes to sentencing?
In a recent case a named-andshamed sex fiend - who had so many photos he must have been preying on innocent little children for a long time - distributed photos to evil beasts like himself.
These photos go on being passed around for years and years.
Imagine if it was you or your brother, sister or cousin aged six or seven in the photo, and then years later a classmate or neighbour now searching these photos comes across a photo and recognises the victims.
These victims would now be 19, 20 or 21 and live and work in the area.

Boostourbuses
The recent decision by ALL Renfrewshire councillors to support Labour’s proposals for re-regulation of Scotland’s buses is born out of the frustration expressed by our constituents, many of whom are totally dependent on public transport.
The theory behind the original decision to de-regulate was designed, we were told, to generate competition in the industry.
This has failed in Renfrewshire and elsewhere in Scotland, with large bus operators squeezing out any form of competition.
Our campaign is focused on asking the Scottish government to consider re-regulation of our buses and I sincerely hope our MSPs take on their constituents concerns and act accordingly. Taxpayers are already funding bus services through SPT, so why not give our communities a say in how their valued bus services are run. Councillor Jim Sheridan Houston, Crosslee and Linwood
