Hagg A won’t let up in battle for the title

Pickwicks still in the mix

- Craig Ritchie

It was business as usual for Hagg Bar A in the Paisley and District Darts First Division as the league leaders travelled out to Arthurlie Inns.

And they proved to be in unstoppable form as they dished out a 9-0 defeat to their hosts, marking their fourth whitewash of the season.

The Hagg Bar side stay two points clear of Pickwicks as they too recorded a 9-0 scoreline, theirs coming from an away tie at Hagg Bar C – their second runaway victory of the season.

St Peter’s stayed in touch with the two leaders as they too took both points from an away game after they beat Pockets Red 7-2 to maintain a four-point gap.

There are now three teams vying for fourth place in the division as Court Bar failed to make headway in the table after they suffered a 6-3 defeat at the hands of Keystone A, with the result pushing Keystone into seventh place and only four points behind.

Flying Horse A now sit just one leg behind Court Bar as they could not stop Burgh Bar taking both points in a thrilling game that saw Burgh take a 4-2 lead into the doubles matches before Flying Horse A reeled off the first two doubles clashes to make it 4-4.

But it was Burgh Bar that held their nerve to deny Flying Horse’s comeback and they took the match 5-4 to put themselves on the same points total as their rivals.

Gleniffer Hotel now sit equal to the Keystone in seventh spot as they jumped three league places courtesy of a stunning 7-2 home win over Railway Inn, who dropped two places to ninth as a result of the scoreline.

In the Second Division, it continues to be Pockets Black who set the pace as they recorded their 11th win of the campaign with a visit to Kelburne Cricket Club, where they won 7-2.

The Pockets side can’t afford to be complacent, though, as they are being hunted down by the chasing pack that includes three teams.

The Kelburn stay at the front of the pack but are now two points behind the leaders as they suffered only their third defeat of the season as Cafuffals kept up their attack on the table with a 6-3 victory.

That win puts a difference of just four legs between the teams as they both sit on the same points.

Joining these two are Tartan Rose after they travelled to Court Bar B before returning with the points following a hard-fought 5-4 win.

The Tartan terrors now sit just four legs behind Cafuffals but that difference is enough to put them in fourth place.

Waiting on any slip- ups are Inkerman Bowling Club as they remain two points beind following a 5-4 win over Hazel Pirates. That result leaves the Pirates in tenth spot in the league table.

Ta k i n g advantage of a postponement in the match between Hazel Pirates B and Keystone B are the Hazel Arms.

They climbed one space in the table to seventh after a successful visit to Flying Horse B gave them both points for a 6-3 win. The postponed game will now be played on Monday.

The treble 20 took another beating this week after a grand total of 13 maximums around the venues. Pickwick’s Dean Fitch struck two.

The highest finish of the night came from Burgh Bar B’s Mary McKinnon, with a great 116 checkout.

The quickest games of the night were 15-dart efforts from Hagg Bar A’s George Dempsey and Pickwick’s Robert Morrison. Hagg A Pickwicks St. Peter’s Court Bar Flying Horse A Burgh Bar Gleniffer Hotel Keystone A Railway Inn Pockets Red Hagg C Arthurlie Inns
