A tartan touch as St Vincent’s reaches 30
Hospice celebrates milestone
We owe Houston’s a huge thanks Louise Strachan
A unique tartan has been woven to celebrate the 30th anniversary of St Vincent’s Hospice.
Houston Kiltmakers, in Paisley, has created the tartan which is a unique blend of the hospice’s official colours.
Louise Strachan, fundraising coordinator for St Vincent’s in Howwood, is leading the 30th anniversary celebrations this year.
She said: “We wanted something really special that not only celebrates the heritage and history of everything we have accomplished over the last 30 years, but marks a new chapter in our development.
“The tartan is absolutely perfect and we owe Houston’s a huge thanks for this fantastic gesture and all their hard work.
“Three decades ago, St Vincent’s opened its doors for the first time to help care for some of the most vulnerable in our community. Since that time, it has taken countless hours of hard work, dedication and support from staff, volunteers and members of the community to allow us to accomplish more than we had dared imagine in the early days.
“This tartan is a recognition of all of that, and we hope that people will wear the St Vincent’s Tartan with pride as we prepare for the next 30 years and beyond.”
Since opening its doors in 1988, St Vincent’s Hospice has provided specialist palliative and end- of- life care for individuals and families affected by lifelimiting conditions across Renfrewshire, caring for hundreds of people every year.
Ken MacDonald, from Houston Kiltmakers in the High Street, said they were pleased to help St Vincent’s mark their anniversary.
“We are very proud of our commitment to supporting local charities and are delighted that we were able to help St Vincent’s celebrate this special occasion,” he said.
“Using their official colours, we created a design that is unique to the hospice and will let you show your support for all the amazing work they do with style and tradition.”
The official tartan of St Vincent’s Hospice is now available and can be worn in a variety of materials and styles.
