Murder bid thug back behind bars
Brute assaulted man while out on parole
10.03.2018 An at t e m p t e d murderer who punched his neighbour after being invited into his home has been caged for almost eight months.
Daniel Carr, 28, pounced on Scott Harvey after he pitched up unannounced after being released on parole.
He swung for his victim after rowing with his girlfriend.
The yob admitted assaulting the man at Paisley Sheriff Court.
Prosecutor Meghan Glancey told how he turnedup at their door before lashing out.
She said: “The complainer and his partner were at home. “The buzzer sounded. “His partner granted access to Carr.
“At this point, Carr began to shout at her.
“She invited him in for them to speak in private. At this stage, an argument ensued.
“Carr took hold of the complainer’s collar and, with his right hand, punched him in the face.
“Police attended and observed Carr sitting on the sofa with the complainer standing near with a large lump and bleeding to his left cheekbone.”
The brute appeared in the dock in cuffs.
He was paroled last year after serving part of a stretch for an attempted murder conviction at the High Court.
The thug battered his victim and left them permanently disfigured.
He was sent down for six years, with an extended two year sentence, in 2013.
No explanation was given for the attack at the flat in Paisley’s Dundonald Road, on January 27.
Sheriff Seith Ireland insisted the stretch has to run alongside that for the previous offence.
He said: “Clearly, your record follows you around. It was a very significant conviction at the High Court in 2013, where the judge passed an extended sentence.
“I simply mark the offence here. I cannot extend your time in custody.
“Any release will be a matter for the parole board.”
