Arrest over NewYear’s Day rape

Police have arrested a man in connection with the rape of a teenage girl after a Hogmanay party.

The 16-year-old girl was allegedly attacked in Atholl Place in Linwood in the early hours of New Year’s Day.

An 18- year- old man has been charged and released and will appear at Paisley Sheriff Court at a later date.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “The man has been released on an undertaking to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court at a later date. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
