Drivers warned to expect delays

-

Drivers are being warned to expect delays as roadworks take place this week on the busy A737.

Scotland TranServ will install new traffic islands, signs and road markings on the road at its junction with Howwood in a bid to make the notorious accident blackspot safer.

Work will take place overnight with temporary traffic lights now in place until 6am on Friday, March 16. And the road will be closed overnight from 8pm on Thursday, March 15, until 6am the following morning to carry out retexturing.

A diversion through Kilbarchan, Howwood and Lochwinnoch will be in place during this time.

Vincent Tait, Scotland TranServ’s Road Safety Manager, said:“In order to minimise disruption on one of our busy trunk roads, working with local stakeholders, we have scheduled the works to take place overnight.

“Installation of new traffic islands either side of the A737 Howwood junction and improving the markings and signage will help to make the trunk road safer.”
