Ladies get a special tourney underway in Paisley

It’s all go on the green this week at Paisley Indoor Bowling Club.

The centre in Wallneuk Road is hosting the 2018 Home Internatio­nal Series.

Top players from Scotland, England, Ireland, Wales and the Channel Islands have descended on the club for 10 days of fierce competitio­n.

At the weekend the ladies kicked things off in style with a weekendlon­g tournament.

Teams battled it out in rounds that lasted till 7pm each day.

Club president Jim Corrigan said the event was a huge success.

“The ladies competitio­n has been a brilliant start to the internatio­nal series,” he said.

“Over 500 people were in this club over the weekend.

“Team Scotland were on top form and did their country proud.”

Local lass Emma McIntyre, 25, was part of the Scottish team that took home silver, just points behind the English contingent.

This week sees the British Isles players take to the green before the gents event this weekend.
