Thomas Miller’s lastgasp screamer was enough to snatch a seemingly unlikely point at home to Troon.

Miller’s last- minute strike was more than enough to savour any game of football, picking his spot from distance as he rifled home into the top corner with a moment of magic as the clock ticked down.

On a tricky day at the office, ’ Frew had to dig deep on what proved to be a frustrating afternoon that saw them reduced to 10 men.

They also had to make do without full-back Cameron Clark, who had featured for Scotland Schools the previous night.

With Renfrew coming slow out of the traps, it was Troon that quickly seized the initiative as they raced into the lead on 20 minutes.

Steven McCreadie was the man on the scoresheet, jinking clear of the Renfrew backline before firing past Danny McLeay in goals to cap a fine individual effort to put the visitors in the ascendancy.

But Renfrew were handed a route back into the game within five minutes from the penalty spot, with Scott Morton despatching the spotkick with ease to take the two sides in level at the break.

A second yellow card for Jamie Benton just four minutes into the second- half handed ’ Frew an uphill battle for the majority of the second-half, with both sets of supporters becoming increasingly frustrated by an over-zealous referee.

T h e r e w e r e no complaints, however, shortly after the hour, when the ref again pointed to the spot – this time for Troon – after McLeay sent a Troon striker tumbling inside the box.

Ross Barbour dusted himself down and did the honours as the Ayrshire outfit looked certain to clinch a crucial three points in the promotion race.

But Miller had other ideas, popping up with a sensational equaliser to snatch a point for Renfrew.
