Pressure? Bring it on, says Tyler

-

Braehead Clan forward Tyler Shattock insists his side are revelling in the pressure being piled on them.

Shattock, who has been named the Elite League Player of the Week for the week ending March 11, has been in great form since returning from injury.

The side picked up five points from six in three games that have seen them maintain their grip on the precious eighth-place spot and the final playoff qualifying position.

And Shattock maintains that the side remain focused on securing that last place in the playoffs as the pressure mounts up, with just two weeks to go.

“It doesn’t matter who we play right now,”Shattock said.“It’s all about getting the wins and we know winning the games we have left will secure us that spot

“It’s been a fairly good week and, most importantly, we picked up five points out of six. We’re in a dogfight to get into the play-offs, so it’s been good.

“I don’t know if we’re under extra pressure, but it’s a good time of the year and every game is important for us. If we can continue that, we can lock up eighth place.

“We’ve beaten some good teams, which has shown we can compete and confidence is good right now.”

Shattock was in fine form over last week’s clashes with Edinburgh Capitals and Belfast Giants.

His week got off to the best possible start when he picked up five assists in last Wednesday’s 7-2 win over Edinburgh Capitals.

And he then took his form to Belfast Giants on Saturday where he scored Clan’s second and fifth goals to secure a huge win on the road.

The forward ended the weekend with an assist on Braehead’s equalising goal for Robbie Lepine.

Although John Tripp’s side went down 3-2 in overtime, it was considered a successful week.

And head coach Tripp revealed that he was delighted by the forward’s performance in recent weeks,

“Tyler’s award is indicative of the form of the team. For him to pick up as many as nine points this week shows we’re heading in the right direction,”he said.

“Since coming back from his injury, he’s thrown himself straight back into action and he was a big player in what was a big week for my players.”
