Fractured rib has Duffy in a race against time
St Mirren striker Darryl Duffy faces a race against time to be fit before the end of the season after fracturing his rib while playing for Airdrie.
The experienced striker, 33, is currently on loan with the League One side after finding his first-team opportunities hard to come by with the current Championship leaders this season.
Signed in the summer from Mohun Bagan in India, Duffy only managed to bag himself a couple of substitute appearances before being sent to New Broomfield during the January transfer window.
Duffy opened the scoring for the Diamonds in their 2-2 draw with Jim Goodwin’s Alloa Athletic on Tuesday night, however he was forced off injured after just 25 minutes of the league clash in North Lanarkshire.
And Duffy revealed that he is set for an extended spell on the sidelines.
He said: “I’ve fractured my rib next to my sternum. I am absolutely gutted.
“The hospital has said it will be six weeks out but l will be working hard to get back as soon as possible.”
Duffy, who has had previous spells with Falkirk, Hibs and Hull City, has been in superb form since joining Stevie Findlay’s side having fired four goals in his 10 appearances for the club.
With goals in his last three games, Duffy’s injury will come as a real setback for the club.
