Andrew Doyle and David Cameron are unhappy at businesses using their home of Ferguslie Park to dispose of industrial waste.
The pair are both proud to be Ferguslie Park born- and- bred and are keen to see improvements in the scheme.
Andrew, a member of Ferguslie Park Community Council, said: “I’ve always thought the underused strip of land opposite St Mirren football ground beside the old railway could be used as an organic growing project for the residents looking to grow fruit and veg.
“We went to the old Ferguslie Park prefabs, known locally as cowboy valley, only to find burnt-out tyres, asbestos, tons of rubble and unopened rolls of linoleum turning the place into a massive tip.
“This is just one of those massive eyesores most of us never get to see because it’s hidden behind the old railway embankment, when it could easily be one of those hidden gems given over to nature and a place for families to visit.
“I think there is a need for decent bollards to keep out the fly tippers while asking for the wardens to patrol this area would put off many, if not all, future illegal activities.
“I would call on Renfrewshire Council during their clean- up drives to come together and sort this mess out.”
Renfrewshire Council has recently made cleaning up communities a priority with its Team Up to Clean Up campaign.
A council spokesperson said: “The land in question is privately owned and the removal of the fly tipping is the responsibility of the owner. The site has previously been secured to prevent access and Renfrewshire Council will contact the owner to remind them of their responsibilities.”
