Charity cycle appeal

-

There is still time to back a charity drive for women battling cancer.

Catherine Anderson, 43, was diagnosed with breast cancer in October 2016 and is now doing well after treatment.

And so fit does she feel that the mum-of-two, from Houston, is taking on the cycling challenge of her life by heading for Paris.

She started it all off with a mass spinathon at Bowfield Hotel, in Johnstone, both to get in shape for the journey and get the fundraising going.

Catherine, alongside friend Jennie McDermott and other supporters, pedalled in the spinning suite of the Bowfield Gym and Leisure Club for no fewer than six hours. And they raised £2,300 from this alone.

Cash raised will go to the sponsored bike ride from London to Paris in aid of the charity Women v Cancer, which Catherine and friends will embark on in September.

Joining her on the cycle will be Elaine Livingstone and Joanne Kelly, who have also battled cancer.

Catherine added: “The event has been organised by Women v Cancer and is normally done over four days. But this time it is over three days.”

Tickets for the disco are £10 on the door
