A tiler who went on a drunken rampage terrifying his partner has been warned to“shape up” or else.

Sozzled Steven Irvine, 44, sparked mayhem at the home of his partner Leeanne Blair, 33, in the town’s Ferguslie district.

Paisley Sheriff Court heard his girlfriend fled her home in terror after Irvine branded her a “slut” and a “tramp” while out of his mind on booze on January 3, 2018.

He even hurled a bottle of whisky at the driveway in front of the property during the rammy.

Fiscal depute John Penman told the court: “The accused and the complainer have been in a relationship for 10 years.

“Around 12.15am on the day in question he attended at Ms Blair’s home. He had been drinking a lot. That was the reason for his behaviour.

“He was under the influence when he became abusive towards her, calling her such names as a ‘slut’ and a ‘f****** tramp.’

“Ms Blair was upset. His behaviour continued and she had to leave to go to her mum’s house.

“Both returned at 1am but his actions had not changed.

“He was asked to leave but came back and picked up a large bottle of whisky and went outside where he threw the bottle smashing it in front of the house.”

Police were called and Irvine was arrested.

He appeared at court yesterday, where he admitted behaving in a threatening and abusive manner likely to cause a reasonable person to suffer fear and alarm in that he acted aggressively, shouted, swore and refused to leave, and refused to desist from causing alarm.

Defence agent Paul Lynch said: “He apologises profusely for his behaviour. Miss Blair is present in court today and she is supportive of him.

“The couple very much want to put the matter behind them. He is a skilled tradesman and has worked as a tiler.

“He acknowledges his responsibility by tendering his plea of guilty.”

Sheriff David Pender said he was prepared to deal with the matter by way of a fine.

He said: “You have a good trade so get out there and make some money.

“You will be fined £300.”
