Glennifer High snappers are top of the class
Three young Buddies are snap happy after coming out on top in a photography contest.
The My Place Photography Competition is a project for schoolaged young people throughout Scotland.
A trio of talented teens from Paisley have been crowned winners or received a highly commended award in the prestigious competition.
Glennifer High School pupils Amy Lieberman, Eoin Graham and Nicholas Waterson-Boyd, all 17, are celebrating the impressive accolades for their work.
The budding snappers all study higher photography at Paisley’s West College Scotland campus.
Amy, who won the secondary school category for her photograph Wildlife, told the Express:“I’m really enjoying the higher photography course at college and working on a project like this was a great experience.
“I was so surprised and delighted that my picture had been chosen.
“This award gives me the confidence to keep following my passion and makes me feel like I can make my mark as a photographer.”
Allowing participants to express their thoughts, experiences and perspectives on the heritage, buildings and archaeology around them, the nationwide project is supported by Historic Environment Scotland.
Nicholas Waterson-Boyd was crowned winner of the Young Persons Choice award for his photograph Isolation.
He said: “I was so surprised my image was chosen. It gives me so much confidence to do more.”
Robert Tabor, curriculum and quality leader for photography at the Paisley campus told the Express he was “thrilled” to see his students’ work being triumphed in this way.
He said: “We are delighted to see the creativity of our students being recognised.
“These are prestigious awards with over 500 entrants from every part of Scotland, so to see the students do so well is really thrilling.”
