Teams now within touching distance of silverware

-

team The Kelburn and Hazel Arms. But with the game being played in The Hazel it wasn’t going to be so plain sailing for the league leaders.

And this proved to be the case as the game progressed to a last-game decider before The Kelburn finally won the match by the narrowest of margins at 5-4.

Their reward will be a game against Court Bar who won through 5-2 against Hazel Pirates in a game played in Tartan Rose.

The next game at Gleniffer Hotel was a match between the home team and Kelburne Cricket Club who are currently sitting 10th in Division Two.

Gleniffer could’ve been forgiven for thinking that the game would be relatively straightforward given the teams’ respective league positions.

However, the Second Division side pushed their opponents all the way to a last game before the Hotel team clinched their last eight place with a 5-4 victory.

In the last of the games played at Keystone, it was the local A team that faced Pickwicks whose previous win in the competition had been against Keystone B.

And they kept up their winning ways as they completed a double against the A team by five games to two to book the last available quarter-final slot.

As the games were of a shorter format there is less scope for the big hitters to make a mark. Despite this there were six maximums recorded in the eight games played, bringing the season’s total to 366.

There were six games finished in 18 darts or less with the best being a 16- dart leg from John Barclay Snr of Court Bar, the only player to feature in all three highlights tables this week.

He also hit a 180 and had a very respectable 118 finish, although that was bettered this week by Keystone A’s Andy Goodwin with a 141 checkout.

Next week it is is game 16 of our league campaign with some fantastic games in prospect in both divisions.

Pickwicks play St Peter’s in Division One where only the winners will remain in touch at the top of the table.

And, in Division Two, current leaders The Kelburn have a home game against Tartan Rose who sit on the same points and only 10 legs behind them.
