Kids are all kitted out for summer footie season
Thorn delighted with team’s classy new kit, thanks to CPMS
Thorn Athletic 2008s team are finally set for the season, thanks to the support of wellknown local and national company CPMS.
The commercial property and maintenance experts – who have premises on Elderslie Main Road – sponsored the Paisley and Johnstone District YFL side’s classy new Nike Striker IV kit for the season ahead.
Managing director Charlie Shiells has a fantastic track record for backing community projects and he had no hesitation in getting behind the young Johnstone side.
More than 20 children, including both boys and girls, have directly benefitted from the sponsorship from CPMS, who are widely recognised for their work with property, engineering services, maintenance and also the rail network.
Thorn 2008 secretary Paul Reid said: “We cannot thank CPMS enough for supporting the development of the team through the purchase of our new kit They are a well-known company in the area and their logo is easily recognisable – we are proud to be wearing it on our jerseys and helping to promote them.”
In this difficult climate for both the voluntary and private sector, the support of local businesses has become a key factor in the survival of community clubs like Thorn Athletic.
Thorn currently have more than 160 members in their youth academy and 25 adults, with the club growing all the time.
.“CPMS employ lots of staff locally and also have bases in Inverness, York and Manchester.
Mr Shiells said: “We are delighted to be able to support the development of youth football in the area and the wider physical and mental benefits of participation in sport.
“We recognise the challenges faced by community groups and voluntary organisations and are happy to help where possible.
“I am delighted to say the children look very smart in their new kits and we wish them well.”
