Kiss goodbye to your one comfort

-

Families are being urged to give up their guilty pleasures to help raise cash for ill friends.

the Ms society wants fundraisers to sacrifice their favourite trips for a sponsored money-spinner.

Efforts will help pay for treatments for the 11,000 scots living with multiple sclerosis.

Paisley MsP george adam has first-hand experience of the condition and is backing the campaign.

He said:“the Ms society is a charity close to my heart with my wife stacey suffering from multiple sclerosis.

“there are many families in scotland that are affected by this condition and I understand how hard it can be living a normal life.

“there are so many things that we take for granted one of the things being accessibility to restaurants and shops.

“although accessibility has improved and is continuing to improve, there are still a lot of places which do not have lifts or electric doors, these problems need to be looked into and addressed.”

Ms is an unpredictable condition that is different for everyone. It affects how a person thinks, feels and moves.

renfrewshire north and West MsP Derek Mackay is also backing the campaign.

“I am happy to pledge my support to Ms awareness week and praise the work done by organisations such as the Ms society.”

the charity has taken the challenge all the way to the scottish Parliament.

Morna simpkins, director for Ms society scotland, is asking families to take part this week. she said:“For more than 11,000 people in scotland, living with Ms is a daily reality.

“this is why we are driving cutting-edge research into more and better treatments to ultimately stop Ms.”
