Saints are so special

- What a difference a year makes.

St Mirren have completely turrned their fortunes around – and, hopefully, some of the town’s too.

I’ve been going to St Mirren games since I was a lad and this season has been as fine as any of them.

It was fantastic to be able to take part in the march to the stadium before lifting the cup after thumping our biggest rivals.

If only every weekend could be like that.

A huge well done to everybody involved in organising the parade to the stadium and the festivities after.

The streets were packed, the pubs were rammed and everybody had a smile on their face.

Let’s keep it going and make sure Paisley is full of laughter and fun every weekend.

There’s no reason we can’t pack out the stadium every game.

We’ll have a job keeping a hold of the manager now.

But Jack Ross will surely go down as a club legend.

He took us from the brink of relegation to storming the championship in just 12 months.

There has been criticism in some quarters of Renfrewshire Council’s Team Up to Clean Up campaign but I, for one, can find no fault with it.

It has galvanized whole communities to take responsibility for their own environment, it has taught youngsters the value of civic involvement, and it has got us older ones out for a bit of fresh air.

I have really enjoyed the pictures of various groups and organisations from across Renfrewshire taking part in mass litter picks in the PDE.

The campaign has brought huge benefits and I hope it continues to capture the imagination the way it already has done going forward.

The Team Up to Clean Up not only helps tackle the ongoing scourge of fly-tipping and littering, but it brings people together from all walks of life. Thomas McLennan Paisley

Well done to inspirational schoolgirl Eva Dalziel (Express 25/04).

She chopped off 13 inches of her hair for the Little Princess Trust, which makes wigs for children with cancer.

Her very own hair will go to make up one of these wigs.

How thoughtful of this nine-year-old to have done something so selfless.

I know there will be many more inspired to be like her in the future, thanks to her wonderful example. Name and address supplied By email
