Tony Fitzpatrick reckons St Mirren’s revival has only just begun, declaring:“Anything is possible”.

Fitzpatrick has made no bones about his ambition for the club to become a force in the top flight, as they ready themselves for the Premiership at the start of next season

Having set the side the goal of reaching the top six the chief executive believes his ambitions aren’t pie in the sky.

He said:“I believe that we can achieve it next season, I have always believed that.

“Before I even came back to St Mirren I looked at the Ross Countys, the Inverness Caley Thistles, both in the top six of Scottish football, Motherwell finishing second and getting into the Champions League.

“I know Rangers have had a hard time recently but they are back in the league now so I know it will be harder. But apart from Celtic just now, I believe because of Brendan Rodgers, I think when you have a great leader like Jack Ross then everything is possible.

“Gordon Scott, our chairman, said let’s go for the top six, and why not? There is nothing to fear – but we need to give the manager the right support over the summer.”

And Fitzpatrick revealed that plans have been in place for months as they look to give Ross the backing they feel he needs to make Saints a force in the top flight of Scottish football once again,

He added;“We have already been planning for months. People will call it arrogance but we have been sitting with Jack for months now planning for the Premiership because we all had the belief that we were going to go there.

“We have plans in place but what we will do just now is just enjoy the next couple of weeks of celebrations.”
