Dog attack woman may need plastic surgery

-

A woman faces plastic surgery after a dangerous dog tore at her abdomen during a vicious attack in Paisley.

The 48-year-old was visiting a friend in Ferguslie Park when she was savagely bitten in the arm and stomach by the bulldog-cross pet.

It is understood the powerful animal pounced in the back garden of a home on Friday afternoon.

Emergency crews raced to the scene and quickly tended to the stricken victim, who may now require plastic surgery.

Cops revealed she sustained serious injuries to her upper arm.

She also suffered tears to her abdomen during the horror incident and was rushed to the Royal Alexandra Hospital, in Paisley, before being transferred to Glasgow Royal Infirmary for specialist treatment.

Inspector Tracy Harkins, from Paisley’s community policing team, said officers rushed to the house during the incident, along with ambulance staff.

She said:“A 48-year-old woman sustained a number of serious injuries after she was attacked by a dog at an address in the Ferguslie Park area of Paisley, on Friday afternoon.

“She was taken to hospital, where she is being treated for a number of wounds to her arm and body.

“It is believed she was attacked by a bulldog-cross breed of dog while in the rear garden of the property. The owner had secured the dog, but it appears it got free before attacking the woman.

“I would ask anyone who may have information on this incident to contact police in Paisley on 101.”

A Police Scotland spokesman last night said a 57-year-old man has been reported to the Procurator Fiscal in connection with dangerous dog offences.
