New business park plan takes centre stage
An open invitation is being issued to go along tomorrow to hear all about how City Deal bosses are lining up a bid for a new business park at Glasgow Airport.
Renfrewshire Council’s team wants to create the exciting commercial development on land next to Abbotsinch Road, Netherton Farm, adjacent to the international transport hub.
The proposed business park will be at the centre of the new Advanced Manufacturing Innovation District Scotland (AMIDS) – billed as the only one of its kind in Scotland.
Bosses hope the site will be an internationally recognised centre for innovation, research and advanced manufacturing to help create and support thousands of jobs.
A major tenant will be the National Manufacturing Institute for Scotland (NMIS).
This industry-led centre of manufacturing expertise will bring research, industry and the public sector together to transform skills, productivity and innovation, attracting further investment.
The City Deal team said the purpose of the planning permission in principle application is to establish the potential benefits and appropriateness of the business park.
Other uses may include aviation, life sciences, office and other services.
To help deliver these proposals, the enabling roads, bridges and cycleways will be delivered by the Glasgow Airport Investment Area City Deal project.
The team will be outlining their proposals at a public exhibition at the Normandy Hotel, Renfrew. You can join them at the event tomorrow between 11am and 7pm.
