Horse patrol to help reassure the public

-

Police Scotland carried out mounted patrols in Linwood to reassure the public following a shocking teen sex attack.

Officers on horseback were drafted in to cover the area after a 14-year-old girl was sexually assaulted in woods near to the On-X sports Centre.

The traumatized teenager was subjected to a sickening ordeal at around 9.45pm, on Saturday, April 21 when she split up from her friends to look for a lost item.

The fiend is described as as in his early 20s, with dark stubble.

He was wearing a dark-coloured hooded top and dark trousers.

An increased police presence has been put in place across the area following the attack, including patrols by police horses Brora and Lanark.

Detectives are continuing their appeals for information into the horror incident.

Detective Inspector Ian Ross, who is leading the enquiry, said: “I would like to thank members of the public for their engagement so far.

“We are continuing to carry out an extensive investigation into what was a very traumatic incident for the young victim.

“If you have any information at all, however small you think it may be, we want to hear from you.”
