Wanderers deal promotion blow to Farmer’s Boys

-

Neilston suffered a blow to their promotion hopes after conceding two late goals at the hands of lowly Forth Wanderers.

The Farmers’Boys travelled to Kingshill Park hoping to continue their push towards the Super First Division but fell to a narrow 3-2 defeat.

Neilston took the lead when Fletcher found the net inside 15 minutes and looked good for their lead.

However, the home side hit back just after half time through Larkin to level things up and make things interesting.

The away side got their noses in front again through Patterson just five minutes later, as they looked to reassert their dominance.

They looked in control from the remainder of the half but succumbed to the ultimate sucker punch when Forth netted twice in the last two minutes to grab a win.

As the clock struck 89 minutes, the tie looked done and dusted, but up stepped Grenfell for the home side to level things.

And into injury time, Forth were in dreamland as they scored again to complete a remarkable turnaround.

Neilston now face a tough run in as they look to gain promotion from the Central First Division.
