Police appeal after hooded thug’s random stab attack on man

Victim suffered leg wound in unprovoked assault

Detectives are investigat­ing an unprovoked stab-and-run attack in Paisley

A hooded blade thug plunged a knife into the leg of 50- yearold man as he walked in broad daylight.

The shocked victim thought he had been bumped but quickly discovered a knife wound as his attacker made off.

He was treated at the Royal Alexandra Hospital following the incident, which happened in Unsted Place around 3pm on Wednesday.

It is understood his injury is not serious.

Officers investigat­ing the stabbing say there appears to be no motive for it at this stage.

They have now appealed for informatio­n from members of the public to catch the yob behind the attack.

The suspect is described as male, 5ft 8ins tall, of medium build and was wearing a black hooded top.

Detective Inspector Scott McCallum, from Paisley CID, has appealed for informatio­n to help snare the attacker.

He said: “We are investigat­ing a serious assault in Unsted Place, in Paisley, around 3pm on Wednesday afternoon.

“The 50-year-old victim was walking along the road when another male ran past him.

“He initially thought he had been bumped into but later discovered he had sustained a stab wound to his leg.

“He was treated at the Royal Alexandra Hospital, however the injury is not believed to be serious.

“This appears to have been an entirely unprovoked assault and without motive.

“We are appealing for anyone with informatio­n to come forward.

“If you have any informatio­n, or observed the suspect in the area, then we would like to hear from you.

“We will also be carrying out a review of CCTV in the area and carrying out door-to-door enquiries in the area.”
