Yob warned he could face jail if he doesn’t behave

-

A lout ranted at cops after they kicked down his door just an hour after it was repaired.

Ben Lawrence, 21, refused to let police inside after his girlfriend called them to remove a drunk.

They battered there way in but he lost the plot and repeatedly screamed:“F**k off.”

Lawrence admitted launching a foul-mouthed rant and refusing to open the door to officers at Paisley Sheriff Court.

Defence lawyer Michael McKeown previously told how his client was unaware police had been summoned.

He said:“They were called by his girlfriend about someone who was drunk who was also within the flat.

“His door had just been fixed an hour earlier. The council had sent someone to repair it because it was insecure. That just added to his frustration.”

Lawrence sparked the row after police were called to Paisley’s Waverley Road on January 24 last year.

He was lifted and spent three weeks behind bars on remand.

The yob was ordered to behave after sentence was deferred for six months.

But the court heard he had racked up a slew of convictions since the spat.

Mr McKeown claimed Lawrence had began acting up after he lost his mother.

He said:“His mum was a big part of his life and she passed away rather unexpectedly.

“He sought help with his GP due to the effect that was having on him.”

Sheriff Tom McCartney warned the repeat offender he faces being locked-up for a long stint unless he stops racking up convictions.

He said:“Clearly, you are in a very difficult position and probably on the cusp of getting a very lengthy sentence of imprisonment.

“I deferred sentence for good behaviour and you’ve not been of good behaviour.

“You are on a Community Payback Order and have another deferred sentence matter.

“You need to fully comply with the order to which you are subject and you need to make sure you do not involve yourself in any further offending behaviour.”

Lawrence will learn his fate next month.
