PALS HAVE A CLOSE SHAVE TO HELP LEIGHANNE
CARING SCHOOL PUPILS JOIN £80,000 FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN
It’s hair today gone tomorrow for an inspirational teen determined to save his mum’s life.
Kieran Sanderson, from Renfrew, along with a crusade of supportive pals, shaved his head to raise money for the campaign Let’s Get Leighanne to Germany.
The 14-year-old’s mum, Leighanne, 38, is battling stage four brain cancer and has been given two to four months to live by NHS doctors.
The discovery of potentially lifesaving treatment at a specialist clinic in Germany sparked the fundraising campaign.
A mass hair shave is the latest charity event and had Kieran and best pal, Joe McConvile at the helm.
Proud auntie Katie Sanderson, Leighanne’s sister, told the Paisley Daily Express: “What this group of boys has done is just amazing.
“Kieran goes to Renfrew High School and Joe goes to Trinity High School.
“Joe thought about bringing friends from both schools together to do a mass sponsored head shave.
“All 23 of them were keen and it was a huge success.”
Going for the chop, as well as a host of stalls at Renfrew High School who hosted the event, raised over £3,000.
“It’s brilliant how supportive they’ve been of Kieran,”Katie added.
“My sister has good days and bad days.
“We are now in talks with the Hallwang Clinic in Germany, which is progress.
“Treatment costs £80,000, but I’ll stop at nothing to save my sister.”
