Opera is coming to town

-

Don’t miss the chance to visit Paisley Opera House.

This is the huge marquee that will be put up at Seedhill playing fields in July as Scottish Opera stages classic work Pagliacci.

The tragic melodrama is one of world opera’s most popular works and this special production will feature a chorus that is made up of ordinary Paisley people.

Director Bill Bankes-Jones will be in charge of a company of nearly 200, including The Orchestra of Scottish Opera, and a cast of international soloists in what is described as a blood and guts tale of love and jealousy.

Inspired by Paisley’s own Sma’ Shot Festival, Pagliacci will be staged festival-style in a huge tented structure.

And Scottish Opera promises a dynamic promenade production that “has all the fun of the fair”, as well as food, drink and preshow entertainment making it an opera extravaganza not to be missed.

The shows are on Thursday and Saturday, July 26 and 28 at 7pm and on Sunday, July 29, at 3pm. Tickets are £15 (£5 for those udner 26). Call 0300 300 1210.
