Pest labelled ex a ‘slut’ because of party outfit

Creep repeatedly turned up at hostel she stayed at

- Ron Moore

A spurned boyfriend branded his girlfriend a “slut” because of her party clothes, a court was told.

Yob Kurt Boal, 22, started stalking Zoe McLellan after they split by loitering around outside her flat.

Paisley Sheriff Court heard she had been returning to her house at the town’s Argyle Street after a Christmas party when Boal skulked up to her and insulted her because of the way she was dressed.

Fiscal depute Tom Bowman told the court: “The complainer is Zoe McLellan and she had been in a relationship with the accused.

“The date was December 25, 2016. The complainer had ended relationship two days prior to this incident.

“The accused had been at the locus, outside the Blue Triangle Hostel, looking for Ms McLellan.

“He had attended on a number of occasions. He was making a pest of himself.

“At around 9.25pm that evening he returned to the locus and sat on the ground.

“The complainer arrived back at the locus when the accused said to her, ‘What are you dressed like that for? You are dressed like a slut.’

“This caused the complainer some alarm.”

She contacted police who arrived at the property shortly afterwards, where Boal continued the abuse.

The fiscal added: “Police arrived at the locus, where they observed the complainer was upset.

“The accused said to them, ‘Look at her top. Isn’t she dressed like a slut?’”

Boal was arrested for the domestic abuse offence but made no reply to cops.

Defence agent Ki r s t y McGeehan said her client has been blighted by Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and had spent time in custody as a result of the incident.

She said: “He has experienced certain difficulties and this is not his first domestically aggravated offence.

“However his prospects are looking up and he has been receiving positive feedback in terms of his employability.”

She urged the court to take into account his young age and consider a community based disposal.

Boal admitted behaving in a threatening and abusive manner likely to cause fear or alarm towards Ms McLellan.

Sheriff James Spy said: “I will make a Community Payback Order comprising 12 months supervision to deal with your alcohol and anger management issues.

“You will also perform 140 hours of unpaid work within 10 months. This is an alternative to custody.”

Boal, formerly of Dundonald Road in the town, was also handed a non- harassment order, preventing him from contacting Ms McLellan, directly or indirectly, or from posting anything about her on social media.

Previously, Boal was flushed out by cops after he hid in the roofspace above Ms McLellan’s lavatory.

However, he was rumbled when officers discovered a footprint on the toilet seat and then heard movement coming from above the bathroom ceiling.

This is not his first domestically aggravated offence
