The Big Summer Sizzle is here to stay

-

Tam Cowan donned his chef’s whites this week to launch The Big Summer Sizzle.

The newspaper columnist and broadcaster joined hospice staff for a barbecue to launch the latest Scotland’s Hospices Together fundraising campaign.

Tam is joining Paisley’s Accord Hospice and Howwood’s St Vincent’s Hospice in encouraging everyone to reach for the ketchup and mustard and host a barbecue to raise funds for both hospices.

He said: “I am absolutely thrilled to support The Big Summer Sizzle. There’s nothing better than filling your face with a burger or three, so what a great way to raise money for your local hospice.”

Scotland’s Hospices Together is a national partnership between 10 of Scotland’s independent hospices.

They work together to highlight the work of local hospice care across Scotland, and as part of its remit it will be coordinating joint fundraising campaigns to benefit all participating hospices.

John Brady, chair of Scotland’s Hospices Together, said:“We are delighted The Big Summer Sizzle has returned for 2018. We hope as many people as possible across Scotland get together with friends, family or colleagues and host a barbecue to support their local hospice.

“These hospices provide end-of-life care and support to patients and their families and are reliant on donations and voluntary support to continue providing that care.”

Both Accord and St Vincent’s Hospices care for hundreds of people every year both at their bases and in people’s own homes. They also support bereaved families.
