Boss says Magennis is ready

Jack Ross has tipped Kyle Magennis to hit the big time in the Premiershi­p as the 19-yearold readies himself for a shot at the top flight.

The St Mirren manager has never held back in his praise of the midfielder who has been a revelation since being thrown in to the deep end of the club’s relegation battle in 2016.

Substitute appearance­s against Hibernian and Morton were enough to confirm to the Saints gaffer that Magennis was the way forward for the struggling side ahead of a January transfer window that saw a number of his teammates put out to pasture.

Since then Magennis has been an ever-present when fit, lifting the club’s Young Player of the Year award two years running.

And Ross admits that he can’t wait to see the Scotland under-21 internatio­nal bound on to the big stage – just 18 months after being seen as nothing more than just another player in the club’s youth academy.
