It’s a nice day for a wedding
Paisley is to have a right royal day tomorrow as seniors celebrate Harry and Meghan’s wedding in style.
Renfrewshire Seniors Forum is hosting a Royal Wedding Tea Dance at Paisley Town Hall.
And the special occasion will be given a regal feel as the main hall at the venue is decked out with bunting and pictures of the Royal Family.
Albert McBain, secretary of Renfrewshire Seniors Forum, said: “There will be 24 tables laid out with 24 different pictures of the royal family.
“There will be the usual cake and scones and we are hoping the tablecloths will have a royal theme.
“John Finlay will be providing the music.
“People can get dressed up for a wedding if they want, and there will be a small prize for the best-dressed person.”
No fewer than 240 tickets have been distributed to local senior forums and care homes for the event, Mr McBain added.
“We are hoping for a good turn out, so we’ll have to wait and see,” he said.
A special treat for their tea dancers will be a choir from Newmains Primary School and care home in Renfrew.
And the word is the songs could have a wedding theme to them. Mr McBain said everyone is looking forward to the event, which will start at 1pm and go on until 3pm.
“A lot of effort has gone into it and it will probably fly by,” he said.
Seniors’ forums provide information, advice and support to older people to help them with problems of exclusion, isolation and poverty.
There are nine forums in Renfrewshire, ranging from Paisley to Lochwinnoch.
