Scottish SPCA needs your vote

-

The Scottish SPCA is urging the public to help them care for abused, abandoned and injured animals in Scotland.

Scotland’s animal welfare charity is in with a chance of winning £50,000 as part of the Pets at Home Love to Give scheme.

Last November, the charity took in two dogs which had been neglected by Danielle Brown, 31, of Dunlop Street, Linwood.

Brown pled guilty at Paisley Sheriff Court to failing to take necessary measures to ensure the welfare of her dogs Shasta and Skyler, in particular failing to seek veterinary treatment.

She was given a five- year ban from owning or keeping animals, a deprivation order and a 75-hour community payback order following a Scottish SPCA investigation.

The Scottish SPCA had to put down Shasta as he was unable to recover.

Anna O’Donnell from the Scottish SPCA Glasgow Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre appealed for the public’s help in winning the vote.

She said: “We don’t receive any government or lottery funding which means we rely entirely on the public to be able to continue our work rescuing and rehoming animals in desperate need of our help.

“This money will go straight towards the animals in our care, and will pay for vet treatment, toys, treats and much more to continue the everyday running of our centres.

“Last year our centre in Glasgow cared for 1,962 rescued animals which highlights just how busy we are.

Without these donations we would not be able to continue our vital work rescuing and rehoming abandoned and unwanted animals in Scotland.”

To vote, go into Pets at Home, which has branches in Paisley and Renfrew or online at scottishspca. org/vote

Each supporter can vote five times before voting closes on May 31.
