Indie rockers are tipped to be out of this world

-

Top indie band PLANET will be swapping the Sydney sunshine for some West Coast rays next week.

The Aussie rockers will descend on Glasgow’s Priory Bar next Tuesday.

Music lovers may remember the band from their slew of singles, including This Feeling, that hit UK airwaves last year.

Described by Rolling Stone magazine as boys that take minimal ballads and build them into “epicness suited for stadium swaya-longs”, this is your chance to see the band before they hit the mainstream.

Since signing with New World Artists in 2016, Rising rockers PLANET set for first Scottish gig in Glasgow

PLANET have kept on spinning with a string of shows all over the globe.

This headliner marks their first time on Scottish soil — but we’re willing to bet it won’t be their last.

Matty Took (lead vocals), Tom Peppitt (lead guitar), Harrison Stewart-Weeks (drums) and Jimmy Weaver (bass) were first brought together by their shared love of music from the old to the new.

Their latest single, Save Sold, draws on influences from past and present and the four-piece pride themselves on combining pop-laden guitar hooks with soaring vocal melodies.

Think Britpop meets an Aussie BBQ.

While PLANET remains, for the most part, a staunchly independent labour of love - all songs being recorded in Matty Took’s bedroom studio - the band employed producer Lachlan Mitchell to add his touch to their past singles as well as their upcoming debut EP.

Dave Ruby Howe of Triple J has said of the band: “Every song feels like a step forward for them to the point that they’re now 10 paces out in front.”

Showing no signs of slowing down, 2018 is set to be a big year for the band.

Fans can expect a new single from PLANET, as well as an accompanying tour in the coming months, with their debut EP set to be released this month.

New music aside, the band have earned a name for themselves as a tight and energetic band that aren’t afraid of a little sweat.

The result? Sweat drenched t-shirts and arm-in-arm sing-a-longs guaranteed.

Tickets for the PLANET gig at the Priory on May 22 cost £6.60 and are available at http://www.seetickets. com/tour/this-feeling.
