Suzuki are on to a winner here
Champion Yellow, Speedy Blue Metallic and Super Black Pearl – these names show that Suzuki’s new Swift Sport is more than up to the road challenge.
The third generation of the Sport, this delightful pocket rocket is faster, lighter and more powerful than its predecessors and goes further for the gallon with even lower CO2 emissions.
There’s a lot to like about it. Masai Kobori, chief engineer for the Swift Sport, said: “We know our customers value a dynamic driving experience above everything else so, for the third generation Swift Sport, our development concept was ‘ultimate driving excitement’.”
The Sport is a greatlooking little car, especially in its launch livery of Champion Yellow.
The Swift Sport is powered by a 1.4-litre turbo engine that gives you plenty of power against a body that weighs less than 1000kg.
Not surprisingly, it is faster than its predecessor, completing the 0-62 dash in 8.1 seconds yet giving you a fuel consumption of 50.4mpg with only 125g/km of CO2.
It has a new nose and grille that distinguishes it from the standard Swift, a rear spoiler, black B pillars that blend seamlessly into the rear tinted glass for a stylish and sporty look and it sits on beautifully cut 17in alloys. Quite the little dandy.
Inside, the rewards continue with the signature red cues of the Sport on the arms, dash, around the gearstick and embellishing the black sports seats with red stitching and the red Sport logo.
The Sport comes as a single trim level but the equipment all comes with the car.
We are talking sat nav, reversing camera, Bluetooth and DAB, USB connectivity, guide-me-home lights and even a pollen filter. It also comes with a variety of safety systems, including the advanced forward detection system with double-sensor brake support that will automatically brake for you, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning and a weaving alert in case the driver falls asleep.
