Caring youngsters step up to help StVincent’s Hospice

-

Kind-hearted kids from Howwood and Fordbank have led a joint effort of their Beavers and Cubs group to raise £773 for St Vincent’s Hospice, writes Scott Bevan.

They took part in the Step Up for St. Vincent’s Challenge, which took place at Castle Semple in Lochwinnoch.

Taking on the course was the least of the work done by the Beavers and Cubs who petitioned family and friends to help support them in their charity drive.

The Howwood hospice, which has been in operation now for 30 years, was delighted to recieve the donation and wanted to thank the hardworking kids for their support.

A spokeswoman said:“Every penny raised from Step Up goes directly towards helping us care and support for families and individuals all across the community, and donations like this make a real difference to people during some very difficult times.

“On behalf of all of us at St Vincent’s, we thank you all.”

Hospice fundraiser Laura McDade added:“We would like to say a big thank- you to every member of the Cubs and Beavers for this wonderful donation and for all of their support.

“For a group of children and young people to show such commitment to charity to not only complete the walk on the day itself, but to actively go out and get support from the community is absolutely amazing.”
