Horror as gang beat up cyclist

One of the men is described as being white, in his 30s, of stocky build, with short blonde hair and wearing a red top.

A second male, also white, is aged around 20, of slim build and was wearing a blue top. There is no descriptio­n available for the third thug.

Po l i c e a re now appealing for witnesses to come forward as they carry out extensive enquiries into the incident.

Detective Inspector Scott McCallum, from Paisley CID, said: “This was a an attack in broad daylight in a busy residentia­l street.

“Three males approached the victim while he was cycling in Kirklandne­uk Road and struck him over the head with a weapon before punching and kicking him as he lay on the ground.

“We are working to establish a motive for the attack at this stage and carrying out door-to-door enquiries in the area.

“Members of the public should not have had to witnesses such a horrendous attack and we would appeal to anyone who has any informatio­n on this incident to come forward.

“Did you witness the incident? Did you see the three males getting into a white or sliver car near to the scene? If so we would like to hear from you.”
