Thieves nick £3,000 of goods from family

Probe after Paisley home broken into in broad daylight

More than £3,000 worth of items – including suitcases packed for a holiday – have been stolen from a Paisley home.

Crooks nicked a PlayStatio­n, computer games, jewellery and watches along with two fullypacke­d bags during a broad daylight raid in Dee Avenue.

The total estimated value of the good taken is estimated at around £3,000.

It is understood thieves also tried another house in the street but failed to get in.

The break- in happened between noon and 2pm on Thursday and now police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Sergeant Allan O’Hare, who is based at Paisley police office, said: “This break-in was carried out in broad daylight so we are hopeful people may have seen or heard something.

“This crime happened in Dee Avenue between noon and 2pm on Thursday afternoon.

“We believe the suspects gained access through the rear of the property.

“Around £ 3,000 worth of items were taken during the break-in, including two packed suitcases.

“If you saw anyone walking in the street carrying suitcases or other items at around this time, then we would like to hear from you.

“Another property in the street was also tried but the suspects failed to gain access.”

Meanwhile, officers are also investigat­ing another sneak-in theft in Paisley.

The thieves raided the house in Ferguslie Park Avenue on Wednesday night, taking around £ 300 from the homeowner’s purse.

It is understood she was in her bed at the time of the incident, which happened between 10pm and 11.30pm.

Police say the back door of the property was smashed by the yobs to gain access .

They are now appealing for witnesses to come forward in a bid to trace the culprits.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “If you have any informatio­n in relation to this incident then I would urge you to get in touch.”
