DOWN THE LAW
Bob has been a great servant to our division
On Friday Superintendent Bob Kennedy, whom many of you will know, transferred out of the division having spent a considerable amount of his service in Renfrewshire as well as Inverclyde.
Bob has been a fantastic servant to our communities and is highly regarded within the police and with our partners, having been at the forefront of our revised community policing model - such was his passion for community policing.
He will be sadly missed in the division where he has been the steady and consistent face of Police Scotland. Bob – we wish you well, and on a personal note, I thank you sincerely for your commitment, professionalism and passion for policing and wish you well in your new role.
As Bob leaves, we welcome newlypromoted Superintendent, Donald Leitch, who is presently the Local Area Commander for West Dunbartonshire and will bring his experience to the new role at Paisley.
We welcome Donald to the division and look forward to seeing him build on the excellent work that Bob has been doing across Renfrewshire. I also took the opportunity to present two of our officers with their promotion photographs, having been previously promoted by the Deputy Chief Constable.
One of the officers, Inspector David Wilson, works from Paisley office having moved there from Greenock upon promotion.
David has a wealth of experience having worked south of the border as a Detective Officer and latterly as a response Sergeant in Greenock.
Presenting the photographs is a highlight for me as it is not a force process, it is my commitment to speak personally with everyone who gets promoted – to firstly congratulate them and secondly to thank them for all their hard work as well as taking on additional responsibilities which inevitably means increased work .
It is also a time where I reinforce my expectations of them as leaders in the division with a focus on people management, wellbeing, service delivery, ethics and professionalism as, for me, these are the cornerstones of ensuring we can provide the best possible service for our communities.
Our people are our most important asset as it is they who deliver policing across communities, therefore we must ensure they feel valued, motivated, supported, trained and empowered to go about their business of protecting others.
